WARRI – The Interim Chairman, All Progressive Congress (APC), Delta State, Prophet Jones Ode Erue said the party is the alternative party to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Prophet Erue disclosed this in the course of monitoring the ongoing APC registration exercise across political wards in the locality after registering as party member in Emede Ward 5 in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) Delta registration exercise committee chairman in the ongoing members registration, Chief Ben Oranusi, said the best thing that has happened to Nigeria politically is the two party system.
Chief Oranusi disclosed this while on tour of the various wards across Delta State to monitor the registration exercise.
According to Oranusi, a one time local government chairman in Anambra State, and the last Campaign Director for the erstwhile chairman of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamaga Tukur, the best thing for a multi ethnic society like Nigeria is the two party system
.
He opined that the multi party will only lead to a situation where we have ethnic political parties; this according to Oranusi will culminate in ethnicism.
The APC chieftain was optimistic that the party is ready to take over Delta State, adding that the crowd the party has garnered in the state and the scores of party faithfuls at the registration centres in the various wards, underscores this fact.
“There is nothing like PDP. PDP is dead; for 16 years, PDP has been ruling Delta State and there is nothing to show for it, despite the huge resources coming to the state. What we’re seeing everyday in PDP is defections to APC, this simply means that the people want a change”, Oranusi said.
While commending the national chairman of the registration exercise in Delta State, Chief Ben Oranusi said the method of distribution of the materials was superb hence the timely availability of the materials at the various wards.
He urged the people to discountenance the rumour making the rounds that there were low turnouts and reported cases of hijack of materials attributing such rumours to the threat the opposition party is already experiencing as there could not have been a more perfect process as the registration exercise.
The State APC interim boss while describing the APC as a mass movement of progressives with similar ideology and same pain, said the APC is set to put a government that will truly serve the people because according to him,” the people are tired of the government of impunity, and a government that is unprogressive, government of the rich, by the rich, for the rich.”
Prophet Erue a political scientist said the APC promises a truly democratic government with a realistic budget that will deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, making reference to Edo State where, according to him, the dividends of democracy is felt by all.
According to him, the fact that a merger is succeeding in Nigeria for the first time, is a clear indication that the people desire a change.
On the recent defection of the former Sokoto State governor, Attairu Bafarawa from APC, Prophet Erue said Alhaji Bafarawa was never a registered member of the APC adding that the former governor was only planning to come to APC which he never did. saying “he could not have defected from a party he never belonged”.
Reacting to question on the proposed national confab, the State interim boss who also is the Prophet and founder of the Jabez House of Prayer, Ughelli in Delta State, faulted the confab, saying, it was hurriedly put together, ill timed, to whip up sentiments and with evil intention”.
He said the APC led government will emphasise the G factor which is God in governance as according to the clergy cum politician, “when the righteous rule with the fear of God, the people rejoice”.
One their entourage was the secretary of the registration committee Nathaniel Silver, a former House of representative member, Mrs Temi Harriman, Barrister Omasan Agbajoh and scores of party faithfuls.
